📚 OH, THE PLACES WILSON WILL GO: READ ACROSS AMERICA DAY 🎩

Posted Date: 03/03/26 (03:42 PM)

Today at Wilson Elementary School, something magical happened. Hallways filled with giggles. Classrooms filled with wonder. And every single page turned felt like a little clap of thunder.

For Read Across America Day, our incredible parents and staff stepped into classrooms and into stories — reading aloud to every single class. From silly voices to dramatic pauses, from rhymes that made us grin to stories that pulled us in... the joy was contagious.

Oh, the places you go when you open a book! You can sail stormy seas or learn how to cook. You can travel through time or swing from a star, All from a chair... just where you are.

And here's something mind-blowing:
📖 Children who are read to at home hear about 1.4 million more words by kindergarten than those who aren't.
📖 Just 20 minutes of reading a day exposes a child to nearly 2 million words a year.
📖 Reading for only 6 minutes can reduce stress by up to 60%.
📖 Students who read for pleasure consistently score higher in every subject — not just reading.

That's not just impressive. That's life-changing. Today wasn't just about books. It was about connection. It was about confidence. It was about planting seeds that will grow for years to come.

Because when  a child sees an adult stop everything... sit down... open a book... and say, "Let me read to you," they're not just hearing a story:

They're hearing: You matter. Your imagination matters. Your future matters.

So here's to the parents who took time off work. To the staff who brought stories to life. To the students whose eyes lit up with every page.

Today we didn't just celebrate reading. We celebrated possibility.

And that? That's something worth turning the page for
